On one exploratory trip we found this 10.7 acre parcel known as “Treebones” by the Big Sur locals. Except for the lower flat area, where a 1960’s lumber mill had been, the site had never been built on. It was completely covered in thick, native chaparral. That year was 1986. Big Sur, CA. The Autonomous Tent® at Treebones Resort became an instant success and was sold out almost every night up to a year in advance. After a couple of years, we discussed the option to add a second tent using our latest design. There were pros and cons that needed to be carefully thought through.Location: 3 miles south of Carmel.
