But it depends on what you want to do as a marshal. Some are backline marshals, and some are frontline. Thaumaturge wants to make multiple attacks while only holding one weapon. It is also very action hungry at higher levels. I would suggest a passive class like fighter (+2 attack), champion (good defence, don't choose a reaction implement), and monk (+2 ac, FoB).
