The leave company wouldn't extended it so I went back. Couldn't handle it at first so I used another month of personal we use to get and then came back.
Some stores require college kids to come in for holidays so they can restart their leave every few months and not lose their position because you could come back as maintenence, etc. I've never heard of that being a mandatory policy, though.
