I favor Greater Bears that you can easilly get giving honey to cubs and start with more than 4000HP. You can get 4 cubs with little effort on the small island in the Highlands just after getting out of desert/jungle biomes. I've been quite dissapointed with Greater Wolves/Tigers. Greater Sabertooth are fine, but lifespan is small.
